The Rhône Experience
October 30 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
The Rhône Valley in southern France has been a hub of wine culture since ancient times. The vineyards in northern and southern Rhône are a world apart and run about 150 miles from north to south along with a shifting landscape which winds and unwinds around the Rhône River.
Syrah is the lone variety used for red wines from northern Rhône while Marsanne and Roussanne, along with Viognier, produce white wines.
In southern Rhône, there’s a much different take on what can be planted. Typically red blends include Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignane and Cinsault. Southern Rhône whites are also made from a mix of different grapes, chiefly including Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc and Picpoul.
Because Rhône wines are bottled by region, not varietal, here are a few notable regions you will recognize: Côtes du Rhône, Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueyras and they all bring a sense of history to the wine-drinking-table!
Come explore this superb region with exquisite wines and learn why there is no place like Rhône!
