OLD WORLD vs NEW WORLD: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir
Chances are, you’ve heard “old world” and “new world” mentioned among wine connoisseurs, but what does that mean? Find out the difference in our first class, exploring Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines from both worlds. Learn how the regional climates and terroir changes the structure and flavor profiles of the same grape varietals.
Old World: Where wine originated and developed for centuries. France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Austria, Hungary, Germany and other regions dating back to Northern Africa and the Middle East. Old World wines are usually lighter tasting, lower alcohol, higher acidity and less fruity.
New World: Regions where the vines were imported, such as North America, South America, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and now China. New World wines typically have a riper taste, higher alcohol, less acidity and fruitier taste.
See if you can taste the difference, join us!
